Modern garden makeover

It’s been a real labour of love, but finally our garden makeover is finished and I can share some proper pictures. We have an odd, L-shaped garden and the bit we’ve focused on is an awkward area that runs along one side of the house. It’s a tricky space as a lot of it is shaded, plus it’s an access route through to the side gate, and it’s where we keep our dustbins. It also had dirty and broken concrete paving slabs, and a large and ugly 1970s concrete screen wall. I guess I’d better show you what it looked like before, although…

The Wool BnB: Decorating with wool

Talk about cosying up for autumn. This amazing house in De Beauvoir Town, London, has been completely decked out in wool by The Campaign for Wool. Everything is made from wool, from the interiors to the fashion. I got a sneak preview earlier this week – the colours are bold, the design is vibrant and striking (this wooly world was designed and curated by uber interiors stylist Karina Garrick), and the best news is that the Wool BnB is open right now to celebrate Wool Week 2016, with a whole host of wooly events and activities bookable via EventBrite, from craft…

Quirky and colourful London home on the Livingetc House Tours 2016

Here’s another space from last week’s Livingetc House Tours around south west London, sponsored by ao.com. In my own home I’ve been moving away from bright colours and bold patterns, but it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate seeing them used well in other people’s houses, especially when it’s done with the confidence shown in this Edwardian townhouse. What I love about the use of colour in interiors is how much fun and personality it can add to a home, and that was definitely the case here. Clashing combinations were embraced throughout the house – unexpected pattern pairings looked flamboyant and carefree, styles ranged…

Autumn kitchen mini update with LSA

I’ve got my head round the fact autumn’s here, and I’m embracing it. I think I actually get more of an urge to clear and organise in autumn than I do in spring, when it’s traditional to tackle the clutter. It’s probably those old ‘back to school’ habits, where the new school year promises a clean slate. Whatever it is, I’ve found myself sorting, rearranging, and tweaking things all around the house. Ben struggles to keep up – everytime he comes home from work something else has been moved or re-jigged. The kitchen hasn’t escaped my antics – it’s amazing how…

15 awesome DIYs to try this weekend

I’m so darn chuffed to be nominated for Best DIY/Craft Blog in the Amara Interior Blog Awards this year, and if you haven’t voted yet, don’t panic (!), you’ve got until Sept 9 to place your vote to hopefully win me a place on the shortlist. Making things – from quick craft projects to full-on DIY endeavours – is something I’ve always loved to do, and they’re the things I most enjoy sharing here on my blog. I went back through my archives to look at all my DIY and craft posts, and thought it would be good to put…
