5 easy ways to give a terracotta plant pot a new look

my plant collection

As I impatiently wait for my houseplants to grow bigger, I’ve realised that actually a few of them probably need replanting into bigger pots to encourage growth. The problem is that big pots cost big money, and I’m skint. So instead, I’m on the lookout for some clever DIY ideas to give an inexpensive terracotta pot an update, and below are a few that I love (two of the five images below are by Marij Hessel from My Attic – her plant collection and hand-painted pots are an endless source of inspiration)…

Lovely ideas! I just bought some terracotta pots, but wondered if I should water seal them? I have some flex seal I used on the insides of a few, but now I am worried it may kill my plants. Do you water seal?

I didn’t water seal mine, and they seem ok. I did these ones http://www.growingspaces.net/2016/02/diy-painted-plant-pot-ideas/ – they’re all indoor pots though, I don’t think they’d survive outside…

I have a lot of terra-cotta pots all different shade of clay, I want to make a stacked pot planter, is there something I can use to bring the terra-cotta color the same for all the pots with out loosing the rusty clay color.

Hi Patty. Sorry, I don’t know the answer to this question! Good luck with your project.
