B&Q‘s Spring Summer range of homewares has just hit the shelves as part of their ‘Let’s decorate’ campaign, and the products really are all kinds of awesome. There are four collections for Spring Summer: Summer Daze (think Scandi style done with pretty pastels), Meadow (full of fresh shades and motifs taken from nature), Touch Of Luxe (bold and rich with deep colours and gold accents), and Kasbah (bold patterns and plenty of texture). It was the eclectic feel of Kasbah that really appealed to me, and so I decided to use products taken (mainly) from this range to finally finish our guest bedroom makeover.
Having previously painted one wall blue and chosen coral and truffle accent shades, I hadn’t managed to pull the rest of the room together, so that’s what I set about doing after a trolley dash around the homewares section at my local B&Q. I’ve layered up three cushions from Kasbah on the bed, and added the red herringbone twill throw (it’s a very orange red that ties in nicely with the coral). The boring beige carpet has been given some texture and interest with the Georgette rug (I may actually end up pinching this for my office I reckon).

I couldn’t resist a roll of the white painted brick wallpaper (£12 a roll!) and have papered one of the walls. There used to be a bulky chest of drawers here, but after our Marie Kondo-inspired wardrobe purge, we could actually get rid of it and it’s freed up some valuable floor space in the room. It did mean I’d lost a display surface though, so I decided to use some white wooden crates from the Meadow collection as box shelves for the wall– all this involved was screwing the bases of the boxes to the wall. I suspect this wall will now feature regularly on the blog and my Instagram feed as it creates a great little styling spot.

White textured ceramic vases (set of three)
Black and natural woven stripe basket
It feels so good to get this room done – it’s a space that’s often ended up as a dumping ground and it’s really under-utilised, but now I can imagine myself curling up in here with a book or to listen to a podcast. I’m totally loving that brick wallpaper. I keep staring at walls and wondering what they’d look like papered…
