: Styling the Seasons, by Apartment Apothecary and Lotts and Lots :
“Reflect the change of seasons and show those changes in your own home, by styling any surface (shelf, dining table, mantelpiece) with something you like to reflect the new month and what it means to you”
We had a pyjama day yesterday to celebrate the end of half term, and it ended up being one of those wonderful days when everyone is content and relaxed all day long. The kids seemed to relish the opportunity to just play with each other, and they were off creating their own make-believe worlds for most of the day, with a break for a home cinema in the early afternoon. While they were cosied up on the sofa with their popcorn, I happily pottered around the kitchen, shooting my scene for this month’s Styling the Seasons.
This month I’ve noticed the days getting just that tiny bit longer. It’s not getting properly dark until slightly later, and the air is full of birdsong when I’m out on the school run. Spring is definitely on its way, that that sense of optimism and renewal that it always seems to bring. I’d picked up an armful of Spring blooms at the garden centre on Saturday, and couldn’t wait to get them into vases and out around the house. They smell AMAZING, and while I was arranging them the grey sky cleared for a short period and the light poured in through the windows, leaving me feeling totally uplifted and energised.
I left my grandfather’s old SLR camera out on the table where the twins had put it down earlier. They’ve been obsessed with taking pictures with it for the last few days (there’s no actual film in it), and I love how seriously they are about composing their shots, and firing directions at me. Can’t think where they get that from…

I love the combination of white tulips and mascara. Such lovely depth of field photos in this post.
