When Lynne from Papermash told me kids were welcome at the Make Wrap Mingle Christmas craft workshop she was hosting with Zeena from Heart Zeena and Geraldine from Little Big Bell, I immediately thought how much Ez would love it. At age seven, she is a keen crafter and loves to copy everything I do. She’s endlessly fascinated by my job, my blog, my Instagram, so I knew that taking her along to an event full of other bloggers would make her day. Plus it’s not often we get to have some quality one-on-one time, and this seemed the perfect opportunity.
And I was absolutely right. The venue – Paper Mill Studios in north London – was a total dream. I have a new studio goal – this is exactly the space I’d like to have one day in which to work and create. Light, airy and full of period character with exposed brick walls and wooden beams. The kitchen island was laden with brightly coloured meringues, cupcakes, donuts and more. And Ez knew well enough not to disturb the scene until everyone was finished IGing and photographing everything, waiting patiently to devour a donut.
Then we headed into the studio space to get crafting. We started off by making a beautiful cracker, then our own badges (she has now added ‘badge maker’ to her Christmas list – she was helping everyone make their badges by the end of the workshop), and beautiful handmade envelopes for little notes (hers was to her brother), pom poms. And I got to have my hair braided into the most gorgeous halo braid. Seriously, does it get better than a craft workshop with hair stylists on hand to also do your hair?!
Here are a few pics from a marvellous day…
