I was completely taken surprise to discover I had won something in the Best of Pinterest UK interiors awards. I won the ‘Best Small Space Idea’ category for our fold-away desk, and was a runner up in the ‘Best Kids Room Idea’ for Fonz’s indoor climbing wall. I think what made it feel so special was the awards were decided by a panel of judges (Kelly Hoppen, Matthew Williamson, Michelle Ogundehin and the Pinterest team), rather than by a public vote. As someone who finds campaigning or blowing my own trumpet rather a challenge (I’m trying to get better, as this post attests), I struggle to drum up enough votes when it requires big numbers to win, so it’s a relief (and a real honour) to be picked by a panel.
To celebrate all the winners, Pinterest invited me along to an awards breakfast held on Friday at Bourne and Hollingsworth, a London venue I’ve been desperate to visit for ages, with its beautiful greenery- and light-filled rooms. As well as a roomful of inspirational people, delicious drinks and food, we had a chance to get creative with watercolours with Emma Block Illustration. It was also wonderful to see the super-talented (and super-lovely) Fran from Fall for DIY presented with the UK Interiors Pinner of the Year award. So well-deserved – if you don’t already follow Fran on Pinterest, you are missing out! Here are some pics from a great morning…
