Fish face paint: Just So Festival 2017

Choosing our tribe for the Tribal Tournament at the Just So Festival and working on our costumes is one of our festival highlights every year. Everyday this week I’ll be sharing easy costume and face paint ideas for each tribe, together with my good festival friend Victoria. The Fish tribe were crowned the unexpected winners of the Tribal Tournament at the Just So Festival last year (GO FISH!) – this year will they retain their title under fierce competition from the Owls, Frogs, Lions, Stags, Foxes and (newcomers this year) Bees? A stomp in our favourite woods

These woods, just a five minute drive from our house, were definitely one of our favourite stomping grounds in 2016. Not only are they on our doorstep, but the walk around the lake there is the perfect distance – enough to stretch our legs and give us a much-needed injection of fresh air, but easily achievable for a quick outing. 16 imaginative gifts for creative kids

Today I’m handing over to my lovely friend Victoria (follow her on IG @justordinaryfolk, and she’ll hopefully have an awesome new blog up and running in the new year), because I know she’s full of absolutely brilliant ideas for imaginative gifts for creative kids that will stand the test of time. She’s also very creative herself, and she finds great ways to engage and encourage her kids’ imaginations. I’m kicking myself for being…

Make your own flip Christmas countdown

‘How many days ’til Christmas?’ is a question I am asked by the twins about a million times a day at the moment. I downloaded a Christmas countdown app, but then an idea for a quick and easy DIY flip Christmas countdown popped into my head so I put one together the other afternoon. Now we have a flip countdown of sleeps until Christmas, hanging up for the twins to see and change themselves each day. It’s so simple to make and I mostly used materials I already had at home – the only thing I had to buy were the hinged…

12 free printable DIY advent calendars

It’s nearly December and I can’t believe that I actually managed to make my own advent calendar in good time this time (if you haven’t seen my Ikea hack advent calendar do go and check it out). If you like the idea of a homemade advent calendar but haven’t got round to sorting yours yet, or don’t think your craft skills are quite up to the challenge of making one completely from scratch, I’ve pulled together my favourite DIY advent calendars that come complete with free printable and/or templates to help make life a little easier. Some of these are…
