2017 sees a big change for our household, as I have a new job and will go back to work full-time after seven years freelancing from home. It feels like the right time – the twins are happy and settled at school, I’m keen to get my teeth into a new challenge, and the job I’m starting is flexible in terms of my hours and working from home. While I’m excited about this new chapter, I’m under no illusions that full-time working is going to be a bit of a shock to the system for all of us. I juggle… View Post

Getting my desk organised last week after the arrival of my new super-compact HP DeskJet 3720 printer prompted a massive sort out of the rest of my home office. I went through old files, binned bags of obsolete paperwork, moved furniture and generally tackled my problem areas – paperwork, reference material and office stationery – so that I could enjoy the benefits of a more ordered workspace. Just moving furniture gave the room an instant refresh – it’s almost like hitting a reset button. Other things I did: Finally let go of a load of magazines. They were all titles… View Post

After a slow start to 2016, work picked up very quickly (phew), and has kept me busy ever since. As a couple of the things I’ve been working on had to be kept under wraps I couldn’t really talk about them before, but now they’ve both been published I thought I’d share with you what I’ve been up to! I’ve worked on Ideal Home’s Complete Guide to Christmas – a standalone magazine, dedicated to all things Christmas – since 2012. I edited the 2012 and 2013 issues, and have been a contributing editor for the 2014 and 2015 issues. Ideal Home’s Complete Guide to Christmas 2015 is out now, and it’s absolutely packed with great ideas for Christmas. I commissioned the very talented stylist Sophie Martell to style the 18-page lifestyle story – we wanted an elegant rustic look with lots of layered neutrals, an abundance of foliage and beautiful homemade touches. I found the most amazing location house… View Post

| SIMPLIFY | CLARIFY | BEAUTIFY | I’m so enjoying #TheEverydaySpruce project with Sarah-Lou. Not only is it a great for making me look out for ways to make life easier and clearer, but it’s meant that I’m actually tackling things that I’ve always had in the back of my mind but have never got round to. Turning those vague ideas and plans into reality feels absolutely satisfying. The big focus here over the last fortnight has been transforming the old playroom into an office for me (after my old office upstairs became Ez’s new bedroom). I’m determined to keep… View Post
