Last week I had an extremely rare weekend on my own. No husband, no kids and no plans whatsoever. Coming at the end of a manic few months of work, I didn’t want to tackle anything too strenuous as basically I’m a walking zombie at the moment.
I started out well, with a nice lie-in and some time re-aquainting myself with my much-neglected tapestry.
And then I got up and had the bright idea to declutter and reorganise the cupboards and wardrobes. And in just over an hour, most of my house pretty much looked like this…
It was too late to turn back so I had to throw myself into the task in hand, and not look back. I tackled the new cabinet in the living room – turning it into a space to store my wrapping paper and ribbons (rather than stuffed at the bottom of a wardrobe).
And the horror hidden inside my wardrobe was met head-on, when I managed to turn it from this…
To this….
My small reorganising project took me pretty much the entire weekend (broken up by an 8.63 mile run in preparation for the half marathon I’m running for Tommy’s in a couple of weeks’ time). Once the cupboards were all closed again, it was hard to see what I’d spent all that time doing, but just knowing that there was some order behind those doors helped make my head that little bit clearer.
Hopefully it’s cleared a space so I can actually get on with something creative again. I’ll start a list…

You have been busy! It is just what I have been doing this weekend too, tidying wardrobes. I hate doing them but its good when its finished.

Wow, a weekend all on your own. I can only imagine what that would be like.
