While I had all the painting stuff out to paint the living room aquamarine, it seemed rude not to introduce that soft green colour to the bedroom, too, especially when I saw how fresh and calming it felt on the walls. We’ve used it on the wall that used to be a pale, soft grey and it has definitely brightened up the room. I bought an old battered wardrobe a few years ago at a house clearance warehouse with the intention of painting it, but it dropped to the bottom of our to-do list pretty quickly. If you follow me on Snapchat or watch my Stories on Instagram (I’m one of those annoying people that jumped ship from Snapchat as soon as Stories launched), you might have seen that we’ve been working on a mega garden makeover behind the scenes. It’s taken us most of the summer because when you’re tackling a big project like this it tends to happen in fits and starts. We are so nearly finished, and I can’t wait to share it with you (even though I am absolutely dreading publishing the ‘before’ shots – start preparing yourself because it really, really,… View Post

If you’ve been reading Growing Spaces for a while, you’ll know that nothing in our house stays the same for long. I’m constantly changing, tweaking, rearranging. Impractical, frequently piled high with coats, shoes, bags and other assorted items, this area definitely needed some serious attention, and so was perfect fodder for the storage challenge set by the Tots100 Home Club in association with Homebase. Here’s how we got on… The antique church pew we bought from eBay was the starting point, and suits our home much better now it has had a coat of Dulux Misty Mountain matt emulsion from Homebase. It’s a great spot to perch, and there’s even space behind to hide… View Post
