This weekend is Just So Festival‘s 10th birthday and the Wild Rumpus event team are no doubt going to pull out all the stops to make this year’s festival the best ever. We first went in 2013 when the twins were three, and have since been every year but last year, so the twins have grown up with the festival as a marker in our year. The Tribal Tournament is always the main event for us, and we love choosing our tribe and getting our costumes prepped every year. You pick a tribe: Lions, Stags, Frogs, Fish, Owls, Bees, Foxes,… View Post

This year was our fifth adventure with Just So. Half of me can’t fathom how quickly those years have flown by, the other half can’t imagine a year without the Just So Festival knitted into the fabric of our family life. Five years in, I know my way around, I recognise the same volunteers, the same festival goers, the same costumes. We’ve got our festival rhythm down pat, but that feeling of magic, of being swept up in a glorious weekend of pure joy, has never faded. I still have those skin-tingling moments when you suddenly look around you and… View Post

Forgive me if I shake my fist at the sky a little. Because although I’m grateful for the amazing weather we’ve had over the last few weeks, I can’t help but feel a little bitter that this year’s Just So Festival was a rather wet and windy affair. Now, I’m no expert when it comes to festivals.… View Post

I can’t believe a whole month has gone since we had yet another magical weekend at the Just So Festival, but I guess at least that means there’s one less month to wait until next year. The end of the summer has been a whirlwind of holidays, festivals and parties, leaving my head spinning and my heart happy, but it does mean that this blog has fallen rather quiet. This is the first week for well over a month when I’ve had some time to potter and regroup. Today I’ve been going through the photographs from my camera, and reminiscing… View Post

I feel lighter, happier, calmer – pretty surprising given that I’ve just spent the weekend camping in a field and am so tired I feel like I could sleep for a week. But the three days at the Just So Festival at Rode House in Cheshire really did something magic to my soul – I can’t think of any better way of putting it. I’m actually still too floaty and dazed to write the review I planned to, so a more practical post about the festival – the bits we loved the most and festival-going with kids in general –… View Post
