When I first visited the Sharps flagship showroom on Baker Street, there was an empty space between the two spacious fitted wardrobes in the Henley set. With the window above, we decided it was the perfect spot to build a window seat – extra storage with drawers below, and a comfy seat on top (upholstered in the same fabric as the headboard). Reading nooks are big news in interiors right now – little cosy spots to snuggle up with a good book – so that’s exactly what I wanted to use the window seat for when I gave the bedroom a relaxed country… View Post

One of the key features in my Henley bedroom makeover at Sharps’ flagship showroom was a gallery wall by the bed, and this was super easy to create. Why a gallery wall? I wanted to draw even more attention to that wallpapered feature wall and make sure the bed was a stand-out focal point in the room. I felt like a proper grown-up when Ben and I bought our first decent mattress together over a decade ago – going into the store, trying to find the perfect firmness, having it delivered. Fast forward 11 years, and that mattress wasn’t quite as perfect anymore. I could feel the springs, and we were both starting to wake up feeling achey rather than well-rested. Even before having kids, my sleep was important to me, and I love my bed – I need a good eight hours a night or I am an emotional wreck. Then we had the twins, and… View Post

March has been about a renewal of our decluttering efforts, and about finishing off all those snagging tasks to make the house finally feel more finished and a whole lot calmer. As I’ve cleared out the clutter, I’ve been able to give the things I really love more space to be displayed. Whilst tackling the mammoth job of clearing our garage, we discovered a collection of pots made by Ben’s gran, that were carefully wrapped up and stored away in a box buried deep in all our accumulated junk. I can only think that they hadn’t gone out on show… View Post
