I like it. I’m assuming it will all be one big room, with furniture to show the divides. A lovely family space. I think the shelves look good there and once you get them how you want them and get the TV on the wall it will look good.
I have been really chuckling at the vlog. “Ben decided to put stuff on shelves OBVIOUSLY it’ll be moved” Very very funny.
As soon as you have filled the spaces you will love it. I recommend you get the Ikea boxes that fit exactly in the space, and use them on the bottom two floors for kid crap. We used to have it, and bottom ones were toy baskets and it worked ace!
We didn’t buy the Ikea boxes (mainly because I couldn’t choose which ones I liked best), but we definitely need them for the bottom two rows. I’ve started popping some bits on the other spaces and it’s looking so much better already.
I really like it, think its very useful divider – love a bit of multifunctional furniture I do! How has the light changed in the sofa/grown ups space? I ask because we used Japanese sliding blinds as a divider previously and I really didn’t like them, then two lamps later it was really working! The bookcase is a keeper in my opinion! Claire x
It’s a little bit darker, but the living area has its own window so it’s not too bad. I still need to get the balance of lamps for the evening right though. We did think about sliding blinds actually, but we thought the extra storage the bookcase offers would make it a winner! We’re both feeling much happier with it this evening – and I think it will make such a massive difference when the walls are painted and new flooring is down (hopefully in January).
I love them. I agree it will make a HUGE difference when the floor is up. The wood will create a much more organic space. We have hideous blue carpet and I have to keep reminding myself it is this that makes our lounge/ diner room feel cold. Think the media unit looks great…have just been on the Ikea website to look for myself! You can really have fun with what you put in your little windows!
I totally agree Victoria, the current carpet makes me so depressed. I’ve filled the shelves, but I’m sure I’ll change it around a hundred times before I’m finally happy.
