How to remind myself to drink more water – DIY water tally magnets

I don’t drink nearly enough water, do you? We’re generally advised to drink at least two litres of water everyday, but I know that I’m coming up short. At the beginning of the summer I made a real effort to get my water intake up, managing three litres some days and I felt SO much better. I had more energy, my skin looked better, my digestion improved, but I’ve let those good habits slip again. Some days I realise in the evening (usually as I’m pouring myself a G&T!) that I’ve probably had nothing else to drink but coffee all…

15 awesome DIYs to try this weekend

I’m so darn chuffed to be nominated for Best DIY/Craft Blog in the Amara Interior Blog Awards this year, and if you haven’t voted yet, don’t panic (!), you’ve got until Sept 9 to place your vote to hopefully win me a place on the shortlist. How to fix cat scratched furniture

I’ve been wanting to fix up our tattered sofa upholstery for ages – it’d been shredded on the arms by our cats scratching it and looked really terrible. Luckily the damage was to the surface of the fabric and hadn’t gone all the way through, so I decided to try to patch it as the sofa is otherwise in reasonable nick and definitely doesn’t need replacing yet. I spotted an idea on Pinterest (where else?!) that I thought I’d could put my own twist on, and it ended up turning out way better than I expected, so I wanted to…

Sitting and knitting – finding time to rest

This weekend I plan to be indulging in my latest obsession: knitting. I’ve just finished a manically busy few weeks of work. The adrenaline that’s been getting me through each day has suddently stopped flowing, and intense exhaustion – mental and physical – has hit. I’m not great at sitting still and taking things easy, but my body really isn’t giving me much of a choice. Which is where knitting comes in. I can crochet (ish), but I haven’t given knitting a proper go since I was about ten years old. Then, last month, my mother-in-law gave a birthday gift…
