A pair of luxury slippers are on my Christmas wish-list, but as the colder weather sets in, I need something to tide me over. Not wanting to splash out on my dream pair, I decided that an easy DIY option was the best the short-term solution. This simple hack was achieved using a pair of basic slippers I’ve had kicking around (boom boom) in the bottom of my wardrobe for months (if not years), and some iron-on fabric patches which I think I must have got in a goody bag from an event somewhere. So, as I mentioned briefly in yesterday’s post, voting for this year’s Amara Interior Blog Awards #IBA17 closes THIS FRIDAY at 5pm. As always, I have left it until the eleventh hour to beg for your votes, but I am nominated for Best Craft Blog and I would be really thrilled to make the final shortlist. In a bid to win you over, I thought I’d do a super-quick round-up of my five most popular craft posts over the last year. Bee face paint done, now it’s over to my lovely friend Victoria, who’s finishing up our week of Just So creativity with her fantastically easy bee costume. A brand new tribe is joining the Tribal Tournament at Just So 2017, and there’s much excitement about the costume and face paint possibilities the Bee Tribe offers. We were very tempted to jump ship from the Fish to join the Bees this year, but I think we’re set on Fish for a second year. Maybe we’ll join the buzz around the bees next year. The bee tribal head is one of the most beautiful from this year’s designs, so I was excited to create a bee face paint version (using a Snazaroo party pack and a Snazaroo set of brushes).… View Post

Today is all about the Fox tribe at the Just So Festival’s Tribal Tournament, with my fox face paint design (based on this year’s beautiful tribal head), quickly followed by Victoria’s super-easy no-sew fox costume. The boys in our family were foxes a couple of years ago, and their costumes were such a laugh – I love the smart Fantastic Mr Fox look, but this year’s tribal head is a lot more folksy – I think you could have a lot of fun coming up with a fox that’s a little more boho. To create this folksy fox face paint design I… View Post
