These woods, just a five minute drive from our house, were definitely one of our favourite stomping grounds in 2016. Not only are they on our doorstep, but the walk around the lake there is the perfect distance – enough to stretch our legs and give us a much-needed injection of fresh air, but easily achievable for a quick outing. The other things we’ve loved about the woods this year is that there’s a beach for paddling, trees that offer the ideal climbing challenge, loads of fallen trees for balancing, an area that’s full of the most incredible fungi in the autumn (we call… View Post

Today I’m handing over to my lovely friend Victoria (follow her on IG @justordinaryfolk, and she’ll hopefully have an awesome new blog up and running in the new year), because I know she’s full of absolutely brilliant ideas for imaginative gifts for creative kids that will stand the test of time. Victoria has four gorgeous children, ranging in age from eight (nearly) to one, so she knows what works and what doesn’t in terms of keeping kids happy and entertained. She’s also very creative herself, and she finds great ways to engage and encourage her kids’ imaginations. I’m kicking myself for being… View Post

‘How many days ’til Christmas?’ is a question I am asked by the twins about a million times a day at the moment. Now we have a flip countdown of sleeps until Christmas, hanging up for the twins to see and change themselves each day. It’s so simple to make and I mostly used materials I already had at home – the only thing I had to buy were the hinged… View Post

It’s nearly December and I can’t believe that I actually managed to make my own advent calendar in good time this time (if you haven’t seen my Ikea hack advent calendar do go and check it out). If you like the idea of a homemade advent calendar but haven’t got round to sorting yours yet, or don’t think your craft skills are quite up to the challenge of making one completely from scratch, I’ve pulled together my favourite DIY advent calendars that come complete with free printable and/or templates to help make life a little easier. Some of these are… View Post

We haven’t done a family city break, but Amsterdam was high on our travel wish list, so when we spotted cheap flights on Skyscanner we snapped them up. The twins have only just turned seven, so we needed to plan a trip that would engage them, and that we would all enjoy as a family. As a family we have a love of all things creative, so I wanted to find things to do in Amsterdam that would feed into that. Instead of buying a guide book, I turned to the internet to find the best attractions Amsterdam has to offer for families… View Post
