How we set up our coronavirus lockdown home-learning space

I’ve been meaning to write this post about the home learning space we created for the kids (the twins are 10 years old, and are in Year 5) for the last six weeks! When the government announced that schools needed to close, I was completely overwhelmed with panic and anxiety about the Covid-19 situation and the impact it was about to have on our daily life. I often find that focusing on something practical is a good way for me to cope in times of stress, and so I channeled all my energy into rejigging our interior set up to…

Choosing our 2019 family festival line up

It’s that time of year when my sense of wanderlust kicks into an even higher gear than normal. Everyone I know is busy booking holidays, and I’m no different, sketching out ideas for trips and adventures and trying to work out what we can make work in terms of budget and leave. This year, we’ve started our calendar of adventures by plugging in a couple of festivals so we’ve got something to look forward to and to work our holidays around. As long-time fans of multi award-winning family arts festival, Just So, we were gutted to miss the festival last…

Quick and easy t-shirt hacks for kids (and grown-ups!)

I decided to customise a multipack of plain white t-shirts rather than buying individual designs – not only was it cheaper but it’s also fun to personalise a t-shirt so you know you’ve got something completely unique. A new adventure for 2018: Timber Festival

After the completely incredible Just So Festival being a firm fixture in our family calendar for the last five years, we were absolutely gutted when we realised we weren’t going to be able to make it there  this year (unless we sacrifice our summer adventure to France in the camper van, and I was tempted, believe me). Maybe it was fate because right at that moment, the fantastically talented event team behind Just So, Wild Rumpus, announced a brand new festival for 2018 called Timber, that promises to have the same small, community feel and creative approach. ‘Timber is an extraordinary new festival…

Cute alert! Introducing our new vizsla puppy Lyra

We have a new arrival in Casa Young! Allow me to introduce Lyra, our nine-week-old Hungarian Vizsla puppy, who joined us just a couple of weeks ago. She’s gorgeous, has ears that feel like velvet and loves cuddles. What’s not to love?! The decision to get a family dog has been nearly 20 years in the waiting, as Ben has wanted a dog ever since I first met him. Every so often he’d bring it up, but the conversation has been getting more and more frequent over the last couple of years. Then earlier this year I offered to dog-sit…
