After the completely incredible Just So Festival being a firm fixture in our family calendar for the last five years, we were absolutely gutted when we realised we weren’t going to be able to make it there  this year (unless we sacrifice our summer adventure to France in the camper van, and I was tempted, believe me). Maybe it was fate because right at that moment, the fantastically talented event team behind Just So, Wild Rumpus, announced a brand new festival for 2018 called Timber, that promises to have the same small, community feel and creative approach. ‘Timber is an extraordinary new festival… View Post

This year was our fifth adventure with Just So. Half of me can’t fathom how quickly those years have flown by, the other half can’t imagine a year without the Just So Festival knitted into the fabric of our family life. Five years in, I know my way around, I recognise the same volunteers, the same festival goers, the same costumes. We’ve got our festival rhythm down pat, but that feeling of magic, of being swept up in a glorious weekend of pure joy, has never faded. I still have those skin-tingling moments when you suddenly look around you and… View Post

Bee face paint done, now it’s over to my lovely friend Victoria, who’s finishing up our week of Just So creativity with her fantastically easy bee costume. I’ll pass over to her now to share the step-by-step instructions… The biggest buzz this year is the arrival of a new swarm. The bees are set to to make quite the entrance at the festival. Without any past ideas to inspire, you are the new kids on the blog. Go cute, bright and bold with bright yellow and black fun fur, tutus and googly eye antanneas or how about a bit Kew… View Post

A brand new tribe is joining the Tribal Tournament at Just So 2017, and there’s much excitement about the costume and face paint possibilities the Bee Tribe offers. We were very tempted to jump ship from the Fish to join the Bees this year, but I think we’re set on Fish for a second year. Maybe we’ll join the buzz around the bees next year. The bee tribal head is one of the most beautiful from this year’s designs, so I was excited to create a bee face paint version (using a Snazaroo party pack and a Snazaroo set of brushes).… View Post

Why not make a fun and super-easy frog costume to go with my frog face paint idea for the Just So Festival Tribal Tournament? Here’s creative genius Victoria to show you how… The amphibians of Just So seem to always be the underdogs but who wouldn’t want to go green for a festival! Be the eccentric Toad of Toad Hall or one year we witnessed a frog member in a full body green lycra suit with only pin holes for eyes. Hopping mad if you ask us! To make these fun google eye frog eyes and matching web hands you… View Post
